David covers education and general assignment for the Bowling Green Daily News in Kentucky via a partnership with Report for America.

A native of San Francisco, California, he’s written hundreds of news stories for college and local outlets, including Mission Local, the San Francisco Examiner, the Jewish News of Northern California and Hoodline.

He held five different editing roles at college news publications and reported as an intern for four local newspapers. He learned fact-checking from a book and designed the role of research editor at San Francisco State University. And, he placed in the top five for three national college journalism awards in reporting, video storytelling and opinion writing, respectively. Much of this, after restaurant shifts that’d go till 3 a.m.

Months after graduating, David wrote a viral enterprise article about driver pay and transparency at Uber. A week later, Uber improved a policy he scrutinized. It anchored a five-piece submission that won the newsroom international acclaim with the Online News Association.

He obtained journalism degrees from City College of San Francisco and SFSU as well as a minor in urban studies and planning from the latter.
